The P.S.A.T./N.M.S.Q.T. (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) will be given Saturday, October 15, 2011.
All juniors expecting to attend college and expecting to apply for financial aid are strongly urged to take this examination. All sophomores are invited to take the P.S.A.T. and we strongly encourage sophomores who have completed Geometry to take the test. Juniors who attain high scores and meet all requirements (see P.S.A.T./N.M.S.Q.T. Student Bulletin) will be considered for recognition and scholarships in N.M.S.C. administered programs.
This test will be given only once at Rockland High School. The test date is Saturday, October 15, 2011. The fee is $28.00. It will be held in the high school cafeteria. Students should arrive by 7:45 a.m. The testing time is three (3) hours. The test is designed to measure your Verbal, Mathematical, and Writing Aptitudes - three abilities that research has shown to be important in doing college work.
Interested students are to register with in the Guidance Office as soon as possible. The deadline for registering is October 7, 2011. Registration is done on a test availability basis. Late registration may be accepted, again on a test availability basis, with a $5.00 late fee.
Register early so that you may receive the STUDENT BULLETIN, which provides sample questions from the test.
Please bring two number two sharpened pencils and your calculator with you when you take the test.
