Rogers Middle School/Rockland High School Building Project
Building Project update July 23, 2010

I am sure many people are wondering when the project will begin. While no earth has moved yet, there has been tremendous activity behind the scenes. Construction meetings have been happening on a weekly basis as the architects, consultants and contractor work out details of the plans. A milestone was reached in early July with 60% completion of the construction drawings. This week sub-contractors will be invited to submit for pre-qualification, a process that has to take place before any bidding occurs. Important meetings have been taking place with town boards and public safety to ensure that all local requirements are met. In terms of the timetable, the plan is for temporary parking to be constructed behind the Rogers Middle School in August and at the same time, the construction fence should go up in the high school parking lot. New bus drop offs on Taunton Ave will be constructed at the same time. In September, demolition of the interior of the high school auditorium will start and by October, foundations will be going in. Relocation of the pre-school and the Superintendent’s office will be complete by the second week in August. The pre-school has moved to the Jefferson School and the Superintendent’s office is moving to the Lincoln School on Church St.
